About Japanese Class
- Japanese Program started in 2001 (when EPMS was established. It was a part-time position in 2001-2002.) Johnson sensei (Ms. Johnson) has been teaching Japanese at EPMS since 2003.
- One of only three middle schools that offer Japanese in Georgia
- Approx. 100 students take Japanese every year
- Students can earn High School credit (7th & 8th grade)
Academic events participation
- Linguapalooza, Japanese Language Spoken Language Contest in February
- Nengajyoo (Japanese New Year’s Card) Contest (State & National level) in December
- Japanese Art Contest (sponsored by the Consulate General of Japan in Atlanta)
- Japanese National Honor Society (8th grade only)
- National Japanese Exam (8th grade only) in March
Cultural events & Activities
- Trip to Japan (not school-sponsored)
- Pen-pal exchanges with Japanese school(s)
- Skype conference with Japanese school(s)
- Seasonal & cultural experiences (Japanese New Year, "Setsubun", Children's Day, Sports Day, etc.)

Highlights in the past
2015:
- Japanese class was featured on the website of 外務省: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan!
- March: Hosted "Kakehashi" Project, a youth-cultural exchange program, sponsored by the Japanese government. 23 high school students from Fukui visited EPMS.
2014:
- July: 23 students from EPMS and RHS participated in the "Kakehashi" Project. They visited Tokyo and home-stayed with families from Fukui.
